WHAT IS ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR?

hi there this is the part of the series of blogs on OB, i would like to take this opportunity to explain the intuitive meaning of organizational behavior, why to waste time lets go ahead.

ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOR

Have you ever proposed a girl/ boy , while, before and after proposing what were you thinking in your mind?

If you haven’t proposed anybody, then, have you ever wondered what is going on interviewer mind?

From childhood, have you ever gone mad what dad might do to you when you go back to home after failing in an exam or committing a wrongful act .

You might gone crazy about the first meet with your girl/boy , before and after.

Don’t get confused , yeah I am talking about the BEHAVIORS only , we are all students of behavior. We explicitly apply this every day every minute to predict others behavior and to come to a conclusion, unfortunately , the casual or commonsense approach to reading others can often lead to erroneous predictions, however we can improve your predictability with supplementing intuition with systematic approach in thinking.

So, organizational behavior is the understanding the people in the organization and how their behaviors affects the organization’s performance

Generally people like to go with their gut feelings and intuition some times it may work but, not every time, but , if we make all decisions with intuition  in addition to the evidence.(data bases). . What we are advising is to use evidence as much as possible to inform your intuition and experience. That is the promise of OB.

Organizational behavior (often abbreviated OB) is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness.

OB includes the core topics of motivation, leader behavior and power, interpersonal communication, group structure and processes, learning, attitude development and perception, change processes, conflict, work design, and work stress

As the people behaviors vary with situation and even same person behaves differently for same challenge in different scenario. So it is very important to study the people in different ways that’s why

In O.B we study the people in  levels        1.invidual

                                                                   2. groups

                                                                   3. organization system.

please proceed to the next blog for what are the fields those contributing and most importantly OB MODEL.
